Neil Black OBE (28 May 1932 – 14 August 2016) was an English oboist. He has held the post of principal oboe in four London orchestras, and taught at the Royal Academy of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.

Raymond Daveluy CM (23 December 1926 – 1 September 2016) was a Canadian composer, organist, music educator, and arts administrator. He had an active international career as a recitalist and concert performer from 1946 through the 1990s. He held a number of church posts in Montreal.

 

Maralin Niska (November 16, 1926 – July 9, 2016) was an American operatic soprano. Well known as a singing-actress, she was a mainstay of the New York CIty Opera during the 1960s and 1970s She was also a regular performer at the Metropolitan Opera from 1970-1977.

 

Emilio H. Navaira III (August 23, 1962 – May 16, 2016) was an American singer-songwriter of Tejano and country music. He is the winner of one Grammy Award and one Latin Grammy Award. Known to most by the mononym Emilio, he charted more than ten singles on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks charts, in addition to six singles on the Billboard Hot Country Singles & Tracks charts. Emilio was also one of the few Tejano artists to have significant success in both the United States and Mexico.

 

Atilla Manizade (1934 – 10 July 2016) was a Turkish Cypriot opera singer (bass). Manizade was praised as an artist of great versatility. He had an extensive repertoire of more than forty operas ranging from dramatic roles to buffo parts.

Fredrik Norén (21 April 1941 – 16 May 2016) was a Swedish jazz drummer and band leader known from numerous recordings. In the 1960s he was active in the jazz circle “Gyllene Cirkeln” and played with the likes of Ben Webster and Dexter Gordon. In the 1970s he was involved in the bands of Lars Gullin. With his own F.N. Band, he has fostered a number of young jazz talent and released a series of albums.

 

Juan Peña Fernández (8 August 1941 – 13 July 2016), also known as Juan Peña “El Lebrijano” or simply El Lebrijano, was a Spanish Gitano (Roma) musician. Within years, he was regarded as one of the greatest voices of flamenco. A few years later, in 1970, he started his collaboration with the guitarist Paco de Lucía.

 

Charles Davis (May 20, 1933 – July 15, 2016) was an American jazz saxophonist and composer. Davis played alto, tenor and baritone saxophone, and performed extensively with Archie Shepp and Sun Ra. He co-led, composed and arranged for the Baritone Saxophone Retinue, a six-baritone-saxophone group. Davis toured Europe, playing major jazz festivals and concerts with the Clark Terry Orchestra, and toured the United States with Duke Ellington’s Orchestra.

 

André Isoir (20 July 1935 – 20 July 2016) was a French organist. He won the first prizes in organ and improvisation in 1960. Thereafter he won several international organ competitions. Isoir was organist titulaire at St-Médard in Paris from 1952 to 1967 and at St. Severin in 1967. Since 1973 he has been titulaire (head organist) at the ancient Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris.

 

Joe Derrane (16 March 1930 – 22 July 2016) was an Irish-American button accordion player, known for re-popularizing the D/C# system diatonic button accordion.

 

Marni Nixon (1930- 24 July 2016) was an American soprano and playback singer for featured actresses in movie musicals. She was best known for dubbing the singing voices of the leading actresses in films, including The King and I, West Side Story, and My Fair Lady.
