“Betty” Jane Watson (December 28, 1921 – February 21, 2016) was an American actress and singer known for her roles in musical theatre, especially Laurey in Oklahoma!, creating the role in the London premiere. She also performed in nightclubs and on television, including as co-host of the game show Winner Take All.

Doug Edwards (March 15, 1946 – November 11, 2016) was a Canadian musician, composer and multi instrumentalist best known for co-creating the hit song “Wildflower” for the pop/rock band Skylark. He was also bassist for Vancouver band Chilliwack. He contributed bass guitar to Glass Tiger’s hit “Don’t Forget Me (When I’m Gone)”.

Asami Nagakiya (1985–2016) was a Japanese steel pan player who traveled to Trinidad and Tobago every year to perform for the annual Carnival celebrations. She also played in several carnival bands.

 

Sam Spence (March 29, 1927 – February 6, 2016) was an American soundtrack composer best known for his work with NFL Films. His work has also been on the EA Sports Madden NFL football video games and many football-related commercials.

Gerald Malke (5 December 1964 – 2 September 2016), known professionally as Gary D, was a German trance/hardstyle producer and DJ, known for the trance compilations “D.Trance”. From 1996 to 2016, he also released five solo albums. In 2000, he created “D. Techno” a harder style compilation.

“Pee Wee ” Trahan (September 25, 1938 – September 3, 2016) best known as Johnny Rebel and Pee Wee Trahan, was an American country musician. Trahan used the Johnny Rebel name for a series of recordings for J. D. “Jay” Miller’s Reb Rebel label in the 1960s.

Clifford Curry (November 3, 1936 – September 7, 2016)[2] was an American beach music, soul music, and R&B singer. In 1967, he had a hit on the US R&B chart with “She Shot A Hole In My Soul”.

Asım Can Gündüz (August 15, 1955 – June 25, 2016) was a Turkish rock and blues guitarist. He was also known as Awesome John, especially outside Turkey, partly because his name is pronounced very much like Awesome (Asım) John (Can).

 

Graham Wiggins (October 25, 1962 – September 7, 2016) was an American musician. He played the didgeridoo, keyboards, melodica, sampler, and various percussion instruments with his group, the Boston, Massachusetts-based Dr. Didg. Although his first instruments were piano and horn, he first taught himself to play the didgeridoo while a physics student at Boston University in 1982.

Johan Botha (19 August 1965 – 8 September 2016) was a South African operatic tenor. His international breakthrough occurred in 1993 at the Opéra Bastille as Pinkerton in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. Since then he performed at leading opera venues around the world.

Lee and Lyn Wilde, sometimes billed as The Wilde Twins, were twin sisters, who appeared in films of the early to mid-1940s. Lyn passed away at 93, on September 11.

John Stabb (July 12, 1961 – May 7, 2016), was an American punk rock vocalist and frontman. He was best known as the founding member of Government Issue.

 

Sunil Bardewa was a Nepalese pop singer, songwriter, arranger and guitarist. He primarily did guitar works on all of his work therefore, his songs made him popular not only as a singer but as one of well recognized guitarists among local youths in the early 2000s.

Jerry Corbetta (1947 – September 16, 2016) was an American singer-songwriter, keyboardist and organist, best known as a frontman for the rock band Sugarloaf.

Peter Behrens (4 September 1947 – 11 May 2016) was a German drummer, actor, musician, and clown. Together with Stephan Remmler and Gert “Kralle” Krawinkel, Behrens was a member of the German band Trio in the early 1980s, where he played the drums. The band became known particularly through the minimalist title Da Da Da.

 

Charmian Carr (December 27, 1942 – September 17, 2016) was an American actress and singer best known for her role as Liesl, the eldest Von Trapp daughter in the 1965 film version of The Sound of Music.

Carlos Rico Walker (March 22, 1976 – September 21, 2016), known professionally as Shawty Lo, was an American hip hop recording artist from Atlanta, Georgia. Walker was a founding member of the Southern hip hop group D4L and in 2003, founded D4L Records. He was best known for his solo debut single “Dey Know”.
