Don’t you like these 4-song EP’s from unknown bands that pop-up out of nowhere with a handful of great songs? Brighton’s Fujiya & Miyagi is one of them. These Englishmen aren’t newcomers, as David Best (vocals, guitars), Steve Lews (synths, beats) have been around since 2000 and launched five albums. Drummer Ed Chivers and bassist Ben Adamo joined in the last few years.

Their EP starts with an amazing song, Outstripping (The Speed of Light) that captures the best moments of upbeat songs from the 80s with indie pop esthetics. The type of song that you want to crank up in your headsets to kickstart your morning. R.S.I. is also a strong song with a rockier edge on which Best’s low and calm voice contrasts with the band’s music.

After a calmer moment with Swoon, the band picks up the tempo on the 6-minute long Extended Dance Mix.

“EP2” is the second of a series of 3 Eps. It was released October 28, 2016, five months after the first one.
