Trần Quyết Lập, stage name Trần Lập (12 December 1974 – 17 March 2016), was a Vietnamese rock musician. He was best known as the lead singer of Bức Tường. The group developed a large number of fans in Vietnam.

 

Alan Haven (1 April 1935 – 7 January 2016), born in Prestwich, Lancashire, United Kingdom, was an English jazz organist. He was known for his collaborations with John Barry in the James Bond films From Russia with Love (1963) and Goldfinger (1964), and in the Richard Lester film The Knack …and How to Get It (1965). He released a single from the Lester film, but is perhaps best known for the single Image in 1965.

 

“Red” Simpson (March 6, 1934 – January 8, 2016) was an American country singer-songwriter best known for his trucker-themed songs. In 1965, Capitol records producer Ken Nelson was looking for someone to record some songs about trucking. As a songwriter, he scored his first number one hit with “Sam’s Place,” recorded by Buck Owens. After that, Simpson decided to become a full-time writer.

 

Daryl Coley (October 30, 1955 – March 15, 2016) was an American Christian singer. At 14, Coley was a member of the ensemble “Helen Stephens and the Voices of Christ”. In the early 90s, his albums released under Sparrow Records were achieving national success.

Ryo Fukui was a Japanese jazz pianist based in Sapporo. He was born in 1948 in Biratori, Hokkaido. He played regularly at the “Slowboat” jazz club.

Denise Katrina Matthews (January 4, 1959 – February 15, 2016), better known as Vanity (as named by Prince), was a Canadian singer, songwriter, dancer, actress and model, who turned away from her music and acting career to concentrate on evangelism.[1] Her career lasted from the early 1980s until the mid-1990s. She was the lead singer of the female trio Vanity 6 from 1981 until it disbanded in 1983. They are known for their 1982 R&B/funk hit “Nasty Girl”.

 

Vander Lee (March 3, 1966 – August 5, 2016) was a Brazilian singer-songwriter. His songs were a fusion of rock, pop, and classical jazz.

 

Roland Prince was an Antiguan jazz guitarist. He was born in St. John’s. He died on July 15, 2016 aged 69.

 

Thanh Tùng (15 September 1948 – 15 March 2016) was a Vietnamese pop music composer and songwriter. His songs are very popular among Vietnamese young people.

“Mack” Rice (November 10, 1933 – June 27, 2016), was an American songwriter and singer. His best-known composition and biggest hit as a solo performer was “Mustang Sally.” He also wrote “Respect Yourself” with Luther Ingram.

 

Rod Temperton (9 October 1949 – September/October 2016) was an English songwriter, record producer and musician. He initially made his mark as the keyboardist and main songwriter for the 1970s R&B, funk and disco band Heatwave, whose hit songs included “Boogie Nights” and “Always and Forever”.

Joe Cabot (July 12, 1921 – March 7, 2016), was an American jazz trumpeter, bandleader, and musical director. He is best known for his responsive phrasing and mute-on/mute-off virtuosity. His original composition, “Slow Down, Sugar, Take Your Time,” was praised by music critics.
