Some bands take breaks after a few successful years. Either to resource themselves, write new songs, or take care of personal issues. And sometimes, this hiatus can take years before the band rejoins together to record a new album. Last week, as the English band BLUR released its first album in 12 years, we thought to bring back to memory some bands that succeeded in “coming back” after a long break.

BLUR “The Magic Whip”

Fronted by the always busy Damon Albarn (who recorded albums with Gorillaz, The Good The Bad and The Queen and in solo), the London based band Blur took a break between “Think Tank” (2003) and their reunion on stage, in 2008.

But it took another seven years to hear a new album: “The Magic Whip” was released April 27, 2015, twelve years after their previous record. Their producer from the Britpop days, Stephen Street, was back to record the new album.
