Jeremy Steig (September 23, 1942 – April 13, 2016) was an American jazz flutist. After a start in mainstream jazz, with albums with Bill Evans and Denny Zeitlin, Steig became an early force in the jazz-rock fusion experiments of the late 1960s and early 70s. Steig addressed the tonal color restrictions of the instrument by the use of “modern” acoustic techniques (voice multiphonics and overtones similar to Rahsaan Roland Kirk, key percussion) electronic effects, and by using the entire battery of flute-family instruments, from piccolo to bass flute (including the obscure Sousa-era alto piccolo), often over-dubbed and multi-tracked together. Peter Mociulski von Remenyk (September 3, 1945 – April 16, 2016), known professionally as Peter Rock, was a Chilean rock and roll and nueva ola musician. In Gong, she often performed under the name Shakti Yoni, contributing poems and “space whispers”. Geoffrey Shovelton (27 April 1936 – 4 July 2016) was an English singer and illustrator best known for his performances with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company in the 1970s. Bobby Ellis (2 July 1932 – 18 October 2016) was a Jamaican trumpet player. He worked with many reggae artists including Peter Tosh, Burning Spear and The Revolutionaries. John Chilton (16 July 1932 – 25 February 2016) was a British jazz trumpeter and writer. During the 1960s, he also worked with pop bands, including The Swinging Blue Jeans and The Escorts. Kim Williams (June 28, 1947 – February 11, 2016) was an American songwriter who wrote hits for Randy Travis, Joe Diffie, Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks and many others. Williams was named ASCAP’s Country Songwriter of the Year in 1994. Ned Miller (April 12, 1925 – March 18, 2016) was an American country music singer-songwriter. Active as a recording artist from 1956 to 1970, he is known primarily for his hit single, “From a Jack to a King”, a crossover hit in 1962 which reached Top 10 on the country music, adult contemporary, and Billboard Hot 100 charts. He had several more chart singles in his career. Shannon Bolin (January 1, 1917 – March 25, 2016) was an American actress and singer.
