AEROSMITH “Permanent Vacation” The Bad Boys from Boston are playing together since 1970. Always formed by the same five guys (Steven Tyler, Joe Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford), Aerosmith never stopped recording, but their 1987 album, “Permanent Vacation”, was a true second wind that gave new energy to the band. After 5 albums that each sold 1M to 8M copies each, in the US only, the two next one barely made it to the 500K mark. Drug use was on the rise and band members started to leave. In 1986, the rap cover of their classic hard rock song Walk This Way by Run DMC (featuring Tyler and Perry), was one of the first rap hits of music’s history. Aerosmith went on to hugely successful tours and album in the 90s, leading Tyler to become a household name as he went on to judge American Idol stars.
