The great movement of soft indie pop from the West Coast has a new militant: Pacific Gold. This band, composed of Torry Anderson (keys), Brian Hibbard (guitar), Dan Koch (vocals), David Stuart (drums) and John Raines (bass), produced sweet harmonies enhancing their well-crafted songs that are never too complicated nor too simple to get bored after a few listens.

There’s a folk base that solidly glues everything together. When the Seattle based band bares it all without any artifice. On Father Winter (In His Heart of Gloom), its only Dan Koch’s voice and a few notes on the electric guitar, while on Sweet Rivers of Redeeming Love, full band fly away and a soft and enjoyable ride. They end their 4-track EP with a Velvet Underground cover that perfectly fits their style: I’m Set Free has the same feel out of Koch’s mouth than it had in Doug Yule’s. Cool, soft, dreamy pop that still brings you elsewhere.

We’ll keep an eye on Pacific Gold as their debut full-length album “Sing My Welcome Home” has been released on BC Music today, March 24th 2015.
